What are the benefits of membership?

COMPUTER RESOURCES:

Our members have a broad spectrum of health care computer hardware and software
knowledge. Their experience and their contacts with software vendors can be invaluable in choosing computer systems for your organization. They can provide impartial comments and recommendations on the systems available. There is always someone in the association who has first hand experience with a state of the art system.

EXPENSE SURVEY:

Each year we disseminate information on clinic expenses by clinic size and Health Region. These statistics are supplied by our members and provide a 'yardstick' with which to measure the efficiency of your individual clinic operations. This information is only available to our members and is not shared with the public.

WAGE SURVEY:

Annually, the association compiles a wage and benefits survey. This survey provides
salary ranges and benefits for a wide range of health care positions including
administrators. As with the expense survey, this information is only available to our
members.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - ANNUAL CONFERENCE:

Seminars and workshops on a variety of management topics are presented by experts in their field. In addition, there is a library of resource material to assist members with specific management problems. Also at these conferences, members have an opportunity to take part in a round table discussion with other members which for many is the most beneficial part of the entire conference. It is in this forum that a wealth of information is shared by all and for all.

Many problems facing health care managers find solutions at these conferences. Informal networking during non-scheduled times are also very beneficial. We also occasionally extend an invitation to Health Insurance B.C. and to the B.C. Medical Association to attend and provide up to the minute information on their respective areas of responsibility.

The sharing of information with these organizations is mutually beneficial. Also at these conferences are several exhibitors mainly in (but not limited to) technological areas such as computerized medical records (CMR). This is an excellent opportunity to see the various systems in operation and to ask pertinent questions to the various vendors.

RESOURCE NETWORK:

Our members form a resource network for locating locums and other medical staff, and for solving your management problems as indicated above. DIRECT CONTACT WITH GOVERNMENT AGENCIES ETC.

Because our Association represents a formidable segment of the medical profession in B.C., the Medical Services Plan of B.C. and the B.C. Medical Association send senior administrators to our annual conferences. They provide bilateral dialogue on topics of common interest.

AFFILIATION WITH OTHER HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATIONS:

The Clinic Managers Association of B.C. periodically holds conferences with other
provincial medical management associations and with the Medical Group Management Association of Canada. These joint conferences offer the opportunity to get a global perspective of health care management problems and solutions across Canada.
